Court Diversion
Court Diversion is a statewide program, in each county, that is an alternative to a court conviction for juvenile and adult offenders. It is an opportunity for individuals to resolve their case(s) out of the traditional court process.
Diversion participants, who are referred to the program, meet with a panel of volunteer community members that establish a contract with input from the victim (if applicable) and the offender that is tailored to the individual and their specific incident. The participant completes the contract conditions within the given deadlines, State’s Attorney and courts are notified and the charges are dismissed by the state.
