NEKCA’s two Parent Child Centers are part of the Vermont network of 15 Parent Child Centers that help families make sure children get off to a healthy start. Services include almost anything that families need: early childhood services, home visits to families with young children, playgroups, parent education, parent support, and information and referral. 

NEKCA also provides education and job services, medical services, Headstart and responses to basic needs.

FAMILY EDUCATION PROGRAMS
  • Parents with children 0-8
  • Topics include: child safety, self-esteem, child development, child abuse and communication
  • One-on-one with parents or in parenting groups
  • Groups open to the public – schedule
 
FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER AND VISITING NURSE SERVICES Parenting support, advocacy, help with basic needs.

CHILD CARE SUPPORT SERVICES
  • Child care referrals
  • Processes and determines eligibility for child care financial assistance, including for working parents

PARENT INFORMATION RESOURCE CENTER The resource center gives parents the tools they need to actively support their children’s education. This includes getting young children ready for school and being a partner in your child’s education.

Crisis Youth Services: 802-334-8224 (8:00am – 4:30pm). After hours emergencies responses: call 911 for an emergency or 802-334-8881 for Derby State Police or 802.334.6733 Newport Police. Ask to speak with someone from Youth Services.


Fuel Emergencies: Call 802.334.7316 (8:00am – 4:30pm) // Call 1-800-479-6151 after hours, weekends and holidays—from the last Monday in November until the second Friday in April. After midnight, emergency fuel services are only available for clients who are elderly, disabled, or have children under 6 years old living in the household.
